I just had to share 2 sweet experiences that we have had with Matthew in the last couple of weeks. He just the most awesome kid, but if you know Matthew you know that. A week or so ago he lost one of the controllers to the Wii game system. He lost controller #1 daduhdun... Apparently you can't work the system without controller #1. Well, Dave says you can, but he had to reconfigure it to do so and we kind of wanted to teach Matthew a lesson since he was the one that misplaced the controller. We wanted him to find it. After a few days of him asking daily for us to find it for him and we didn't I guess he decided he REALLY needed to look for it, probably feeling Wii withdrawal syndrome. Dave and I were sitting upstairs when we hear a "SWEET!!" coming from downstairs and Matthew feverishly running up. He tells us that he found the Wii remote and begins to explain to us that he felt he needed to say a prayer to have Heavenly Father help him. So he said that he prayed and as soon as he was finished he felt to look in one of our downstairs closets and there it was! He then said has going to go thank Heavenly Father for helping him find it! Awesome right! Then this one is kind of sad, but since learning that prayers do get answered, Matthew decided to pray to Heavenly Father to have Santa bring Grandma (my Mom) back to life for Christmas so she could see our Christmas. He was crying the day after Christmas and when we asked him waht was wrong he told us this. He couldn't figure out why his prayer hadn't been answered and Grandma never came. It was sad, but how awesome that this little kid has so much faith! We explained to him that Grandma was probably there in spirit but couldn't be in body. Kids are just awesome the way they look at life aren't they! Also another funny, today he asked me if I thought Will could be God's second "begodden" son. lol He just cracked me up. I explained to him that Christ was the only begotten son and God created your spirit but Mom and Dad created your body. But in Christ's case God helped create his body and his spirit. Now this I hoped wouldn't drudge up more questions about the birds and bees, which fortunately it didn't! lol Anyway, just love this kid and he inspires me daily with all of his thoughts, ideas and faith!

That story about Mom on Christmas honestly made me cry a little bit. He is the greatest kid ever!! Whenever I babysit he is always so helpful, and does exactly what I ask him to. And he's always sure to remind me about saying his prayers. I love the Matthewisms!!
Wow. That is such a sweet story! I love that he prayed about the Wii. If he can pray about that...he'll be set for those teenage years. I'm sure your mom was at everyone's house for Christmas morning. What a sweet boy. P.S. Your christmas card...beautiful!!
Oh, to have the faith of a child!
What a sweetheart! You gotta love that Matthew. I still remember my first experience praying for something that was lost and then finding it. Very cool!
